FreeCom
Digital Workshop
Is a unique IT skills training facility.
The facility's
goal is to provide IT skills training for previously disadvantaged
youths interested in gaining a practical or technical qualification
in personal computer (PC) technology. Financial support for
the FreeCom Digital Workshop has been provided by SSACI, the
Swiss South African Cooperation Initiative, and the Ameropa
Foundation, a private, Swiss based development fund. The ultimate
vision of the Digital Workshop is to produce entrepreneurs
who go out and run their own FreeCom franchises.
As
a result, they are taught:
appropriate PC skills encompassing:
repair,
refurbishment,
technical support
the training of others
relevant life skills,
basic business skills.
This support and training is in keeping with our vision to
produce IT entrepreneurs of the future: individuals capable
of running their own FreeCom franchised enterprises specialising
in PC sales, technical support, computer literacy training
and basic business support services.
