Markets and distributes new and refurbished affordable
personal computers.
The fully
refurbished units are 'end of life' corporate computers, typically
about 18-24 months old. These computers are fully refurbished
in the FreeCom's workshop facility before being remarketed.
FreeCom
also assembles its own range of new personal computers. These
top quality, affordable computers are marketed direct to the
market.
FreeCom
also provides a sensible 'end of life' disposal service for
office equipment. Serving corporates, parastatals and government
departments, this enables clients to have their 'end of life'
equipment packed up and removed under strict control.
The equipment
is then scrapped, according to strict environmentally sensitive
procedures, or
refurbished and, ultimately, resold.
FreeCom opened its first retail outlet in Mitchells Plain's
Promenade Centre in the fourth quarter of 2003 enabling us
to get much closer to the market. A second outlet was opened
in Maynard Mall, Wynberg in early 2004. Additional store openings
are planned for the rest of 2004.
We have
also signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Oval Institute
of Higher Education, South Africa's fastest growing tertiary
education business. Our partnership will lead to the establishment
of Oval/FreeCom Affordable Computer stores at all Oval campuses
across South Africa.
