Franchising
– we have signed up and opened our very first franchise
outlet. Brinsley van der Vent, the ex FreeCom Affordable Computer
store manager of our Wynberg, Cape Town retail outlet, has
purchased the store and has signed up to become our first
franchisee. This is an exciting time for FreeCom as it is
the culmination of months of careful franchise planning. This
now gives FreeCom the chance to show off a pilot franchise
store to other interested franchise applicants. There is no
better endorsement of a concept than to have one of the existing
team take the plunge to join up as a franchisee !! Good luck,
Brinsley !
New
retail outlet
We have
just opened a brand new retail store in the new Vangate Mall
shopping centre in Athlone, Cape Town. This is now the fourth
FreeCom Affordable Computer store to open – we are living
in exciting times !
Tender
news
Tender award from Universal Services Agency, a division of
the National Department of Communications. The result of this
tender submission came about after several years of lobbying
in both the Department of Communications and the Department
of Education and it shows that our efforts to get top quality
refurbished PC's used in school applications is now being
recognised as a smart alternative.
BEE
FreeCom
Group has been active developing an appropriate BEE strategy
over the past few months. The final conclusion of this will
be advised shortly.
Franchising
FreeCom
Group’s franchise development and roll out plans are
at an advanced stage. It is envisaged that our first franchisee
will be appointed during the second quarter of 2005.
August
2004
We have just opened our third retail outlet - the
Paarl branch opened at the end of July.
